The Quick Brown Fox

The nature around the campsite is ever changing and “the quick brown fox” appeared in the field next to the campsite a few winters ago.

What is a Pangram ?

If you are familiar with the English language then you might have heard the phrase “The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog“. People call this type of sentence a pangram because the sentence uses every letter in the English language.

There are other pangrams in the English language but in this case it might be more appropriate to say “The quick brown fox jumps and leaps over the freezing, snowy ground” which also uses every letter in the English language.

The phrase “The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog” is at least 130 years old with the first appearances in print during the 1880s. Teachers use this phrase to help children learn the letters of the alphabet.

Do you know a pangram in another language ?

The aim of a pangram is to use every letter in the language while trying to keep the sentence as short as possible. It would be interesting to see pangrams from other languages so it you know a pangram in another language please post it in the comments section below.
