Fruit & Vegetable Markets

Bulgaria is famous for its delicious fruit and vegetables. There is no better place to buy your fresh produce than from the local Fruit and Vegetable Markets. You can go to the big markets in Veliko Tarnovo or Gorna Oryahovitsa, or you can visit one of the two local stalls. The market with the most choice is in Veliko Tarnovo, but the closest place to buy fresh produce is Merdanya.

Merdanya

On the grass next to the road into Merdanya you will see the market stall filled with seasonal fruit and vegetables. Great prices and super fresh produce. Much of the fruit and vegetables come direct from the garden behind the stall. The tomatoes are amazing!

Lyaskovets Fruit & Vegetable Stall

In Lyaskovets near the Book Store there is a great stall with seasonal produce. There is quite a big choice here, so it is worth the few minutes drive. The melons and strawberries in summer are delicious.

For the biggest choice, Veliko Tarnovo market is the place to visit. The produce is fresh and is replaced continually. Most of the produce is local. There is a large range of flowers and plants available too.

This market is biggest on Friday mornings. This is when lots of local producers come to sell their fruit and vegetables. Parking is quite easy around this market too, so it is worth a visit.
